"Know thyself," as the oracle at Delphi said, is fundamental to living a life here. Most people, enmeshed in living their day-to-day lives, do not entertain that thought, yet self-knowledge is key to living a successful and skillful life.

Since thinking and, indeed, your personal style of thinking is part and parcel of your behavior both in your private lives and in the workplace, one will have a distinct advantage if you can understand your thinking style and apply it skillfully.

Thinking is a process which incorporates many regions of the human brain. There is no one place where it can be said that thinking takes place. You cannot stop a process or step outside it to examine it. (Gödel)

We remind the reader that Mind or Consciousness arises from the neuro-substrate. There is no place in the brain that can be said to be its source. This is the same as trying to find the singer in a radio.

In other words, we consider Consciousness to be not a material “thing”. It is a “Process.” This living process is You. It is highly personal.      See “Process.”

Our sense of normal is equivalent to the scale on which we live our lives, i.e., the complexity of the neural-substrate. The substrate is not a description of Reality. It is simply a personal construction of reality which forms a basis from which you behave.

From a reductionist point of view, you cannot stop a process to examine its minutia; you can only watch it operate, i.e., looking for clues.
